As Easter weekend approaches (18–21 April 2025), Bridleways Guest House is the perfect base to explore Nottinghamshire’s rich history, stunning landscapes, and exciting seasonal activities. Whether you’re looking for family-friendly Easter egg hunts or peaceful countryside walks, here are the best places to visit over the long weekend.
1. Rufford Abbey Country Park – The Big Easter Trail and Brunch with the Easter Bunny
Step into history at Rufford Abbey, a 12th-century Cistercian monastery turned country estate.
The Big Easter Trail
Embark on an exciting journey along a scenic trail, where hidden Easter surprises await your discovery at every turn. Every trail sheet comes with a guaranteed special prize, making your adventure even more memorable.

Time: daily from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Cost: £3 per child – each sheet includes a prize!

Brunch with the Easter Bunny
Enjoy a delicious buffet-style brunch while being greeted by the legendary Easter Bunny! Every child will receive a trail sheet to guide them on the exciting Easter Trail, complete with a special prize!
Dates: 10-12 April 2025
Cost: Adults £16.95 / Children under 10 £9.95 / Under 2’s FREE

2. Clumber Park – Easter Family Trail
Clumber Park, managed by the National Trust, offers over 3,800 acres of woodland, lakes, and open heath – perfect for an Easter weekend adventure.
Date: 29 March – 21 April
Cost: £3.50
Where: Both trails start at the Discovery Centre and finish in the Parsonage.
Little ones are invited to join the ‘Green Team!’ and figure out if they’re a Gardener or a Ranger. Head to the Front Field to work through the mow maze, try some ‘tree surgery’, help with nature surveys, and have fun around the walled kitchen garden obstacle course. Includes a chocolate Easter egg prize (*dairy free option available).
Older children and grown-ups can enjoy a crazy game of Clumber Guess Who? Follow the trail, solve the riddles, and collect the clues to receive a reward.
There’s even more fun to be had with seasonal activities and games in the Discovery Centre. There you can also pick up animal and plant identification packs to do some wildlife spotting around the park, or how about trying orienteering?
In addition, on Mondays, enjoy storytelling sessions in the 50 Things room, and on Tuesday 8 & 15 April get creative with paper crafts on the mezzanine (£2 charge for crafts).

3. Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre – Have a go Easter Archery
Where else is better to try your hand at the outlaws’ noble art of archery than Sherwood Forest? What’s more, who better to teach you than Robin Hood and the outlaws themselves?
Date: 19-21 April 2025
Time: 11am – 3pm
Cost: £3 for five arrows or £5 for ten
Suitable for ages five years old and above. No need to book – just go along and pay on the day.

4. Thoresby Park – Easter Trail & Courtyard Makers Market
Thoresby Park is a beautiful country estate located in the heart of Nottinghamshire. The park has been in the Pierrepont Family for over 400 years and is home to a stunning 17th-century mansion, a world-renowned art collection, and over 1,000 acres of parkland. Visitors can explore the Estate, take a walk through the park, visit the art gallery, or enjoy a picnic in the grounds.

Date: 20 April 2025
Cost: There is no entry fee for this event, just £3 per car parking for all day.

5. Welbeck Estate – Easter Market
For food lovers, the Welbeck Estate is a must-visit over Easter weekend. Their market is renowned for its high-quality, locally sourced produce, including delicious chocolates and baked goods – perfect for Easter indulgence.
Welbeck Easter Market: Featuring artisan food producers offering sweet treats, pastries, Welbeck Abbey Brewery beers and traditional Easter treats in The Courtyard.

Visitors to the estate can also get involved with Easter Baking at The School of Artisan Food or take part in a family workshop at the Harley Gallery.

We Will Return.
